US green materials maker gets accredited
Green Building Materials Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. has announced they’re now qualified to certify homes that meet The Florida Green Building Coalition's Green Home Designation Standard. The standard applies to new and existing homes and is appropriate for builders, remodelers, homeowners and homebuyers. The accredited status will enable Alternative Construction Technologies (ACT) to receive fees for inspecting and authenticating a home's compliance with the Florida Green Building Coalition's (FGBC) rigorous green building standards. It will also enable ACT to certify homes constructed with its ACTech(r) Panel System. Many homeowners are desiring and some insisting that their home be earth friendly, affordable to operate, and healthy to live in. FGBC's Green Home Standard is a tool that guides builders and consumers through the process of selecting green features that are cost effective and benefit the environment without having to alter their habits and tendencies. The standard has been developed such that it is achievable by anyone and is becoming recognized as the statewide industry standard. The FGBC Green Home Standard designates the criteria by which a Florida home, new or existing, can be designated green. Certifying agents can also guide designers, builders or homebuyers through the process of qualifying and documenting these homes. "This is a natural progression of our business," stated Steve Rechtsteiner, the Construction and Design division Manager. "Due to the energy efficiency values, method of construction and potential integration and combination of renewable energy and collateral green building technologies, the ACTech(r) Panel System can all but assure a green building certification. This is what we aim to provide for all of our customers," he added. The Florida Green Building Coalition is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to improving the built environment. Their mission is "to provide a statewide green building program with environmental and economic benefits."
